About VietnamTripMap · How We Select Places

What places does VietnamTripMap feature?

VietnamTripMap is a travel map that brings together local restaurants, cafés, and nightlife spots such as live pubs, jazz bars, wine bars, cocktail bars, and rooftop venues in Da Nang and Hoi An, Nha Trang, Da Lat, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Phu Quoc.

Tap a location on the map to see its description, opening hours, price range, Google rating, and videos of YouTubers’ actual visits. For Thailand, visit our sister site ThaiTripMap(thaitripmap.com).

How do we select places?

We consider the following criteria together.

Places must have a Google rating of at least 4.0 and a substantial number of reviews.

We prioritize long-standing local favorites; street-food spots known for pho, bun cha, and banh mi; restaurants selected by the MICHELIN Guide, including Bib Gourmand selections; and places featured by local and international travel publications.

We list only places with evidence of having operated within the past year, such as recent visitor reviews or official posts.

For nightlife, we select places where you can enjoy music, drinks, and atmosphere.

What do “Verified” and “Visited by the operator” mean?

“Verified” means the operator has confirmed through Google Maps and recent visit records that the place is still open.

“👣 Visited by the operator” means the operator has been there in person. However, we do not list a place if recent reviews have turned negative, even if we have visited it. The food and service may have changed since our visit.

Who writes the descriptions?

The descriptions and editor’s notes are compiled by VietnamTripMap after comparing Korean-, English-, and Vietnamese-language blogs, local publications, travel guides, and businesses’ official channels. We do not reproduce source text verbatim, and we list the sources consulted at the bottom of each place page.

Content written in Korean is also provided in English, Japanese, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Russian, German, and French using AI translation.

What places do we not feature?

We do not feature adult entertainment venues such as hostess karaoke bars, hostess bars, adult shows, or illicit barber shops and massage parlors. We also leave out chain businesses and hotel buffets unless they are representative of the city.

How do we update information?

When we add a new place or receive a tip, we check again whether it is open and verify its opening hours. We remove places as soon as we confirm they have closed.

Opening hours and prices may change depending on the business. Before visiting, please check the latest information using the “View on Google Maps” button on each place page.

Videos and copyright

Videos on place pages are publicly available visits by YouTubers, displayed using YouTube’s official embed feature. Copyright for each video belongs to its creator. If a video creator does not want their video featured, we will remove it upon request.
